This is USDA Prime — the highest grade awarded for marbling and tenderness — and exceptionally rare in a chuck roast. Most chuck in the market is Choice. Ours is richly marbled Prime Black Angus beef, averaging between 2-3 lbs and packed with deep, beefy flavor.
Smoke it like a mini brisket. Braise it low and slow. Cube it for burnt ends.
This is the cut serious cooks keep in their freezer.

The Cut That Pitmasters and Home Cooks Fight Over
Not all chuck roasts are created equal.
Ours is USDA Prime — the highest grade awarded by the USDA, reserved for beef with exceptional marbling. And that’s what makes this cut so special.
Most chuck roasts in the marketplace are Choice. Prime chuck is rare. Hard to source. Even harder to find online.
At 44 Farms, we select chuck roasts that average around 2-3 lbs and are richly marbled from edge to center. That intramuscular fat is what transforms this traditionally humble cut into something extraordinary.
The Prime Chuck Roast is mouthwatering when cooked to an internal temperature of 200°F or higher. For a classic pot roast, we recommend slow-cooking in a crockpot or Dutch oven for tender, fall-apart results. If you're in the mood for a Texas BBQ twist, try smoking the roast at 225-275°F until it reaches 200°F internally. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, enhancing every savory bite.
SATISFACTION GUARANTEE
If you're not satisfied, neither are we. 44 Farms strives to deliver beef worthy of having a place on your family’s table. You can buy with confidence knowing if for any reason you or your family are not satisfied, neither are we. We’re committed to doing whatever it takes to make it right, or we’ll give you your money back. 100% guaranteed.
Frequently Asked Questions About USDA Prime Chuck Roast
What is a chuck roast?
A chuck roast is a cut of beef from the shoulder (chuck) section of the cow, known for its rich beef flavor and hearty texture. Because this area is well-used, chuck roast contains connective tissue that becomes tender and flavorful when cooked low and slow.
Is chuck roast tender?
Chuck roast becomes very tender when cooked properly. While it starts as a tougher cut, slow cooking methods like braising, smoking, or roasting allow the connective tissue to break down, resulting in juicy, fall-apart beef.
What can you make with chuck roast?
Chuck roast is one of the most versatile beef cuts. It’s perfect for:
Classic pot roast
Shredded beef
Smoked “poor man’s brisket”
Beef stew
Burnt ends
Its deep beef flavor makes it ideal for comfort food and barbecue recipes.
Can you smoke a chuck roast like brisket?
Yes. Many pitmasters treat chuck roast as a “mini brisket” because of its marbling and flavor. When smoked low and slow, it develops a rich bark and tender texture similar to brisket, making it a popular option for backyard barbecue.
What makes USDA Prime chuck roast different?
USDA Prime chuck roast has higher marbling than Choice or Select grades, which results in better flavor, juiciness, and tenderness. Prime-grade chuck roast is also more rare to find, making it a premium upgrade over typical grocery store options.

The Chuck
The chuck primal comes from the shoulder area of the cow, just in front of the rib section. Because these muscles are used frequently, cuts from the chuck develop deep, rich beef flavor and a hearty texture.
The chuck produces a variety of well-loved cuts including chuck roast, flat iron steak, and ground beef. Many of these cuts are known for their balance of flavor and marbling, making them excellent choices for slow cooking, braising, or grinding.
When cooked low and slow, chuck cuts become incredibly tender and flavorful. This section is a favorite for classic comfort foods like pot roast, beef stew, and shredded beef, delivering bold beef flavor in every bite.
I ordered four 44 Farms chuck roasts. They came frozen, in an insolated box with dry ice. Each roast was approximately three pounds and marbled beautifully.
After seasoning one roast, I slow-cooked it in my cast iron dutch oven for 4 hours at 300 degrees. It was fork tender and delicious.
I highly recommend the 44 Farms Angus Beef Chuck Roast.

Few issues with this order as it arrived a day later than scheduled. Assuming Fed Ex problems. Then out of all packages in box (e.g. tri tip, chuck and ground chuck) the chuck roast vacuum seal was broken and air had gotten into pack. Roast looked fine so I put into freezer bag before placing in freezer. Almost forgot, a few of the ground chuck blocks started to thaw in a couple of corners so cooked them immediately.
Chuck Roast smoked over vegtables for a pot roast. Eight hours @ 250 degrees, pulled the roast and dropped it into the pot. Fall apart tender, snokey and wonderful - MJC
So full of extraordinary flavor and easy to slow cook add veggies and done to perfection. So tender, It literally fell apart! A great value and I already ordered more to have on hand.

go back to super market fair,
Your company has the absolute best Prime Chuck Roast available. The size is always consistent and the quality is top notch. I have most likely purchased a 100 roasts from your company and never received anything that isn’t the best.
It’s too late for me to take pictures! The steaks are in my belly and I cooked the roast from my mother-in-law and myself. All were excellent and I will be purchasing again.
I reorder this chuck roast quite often, best chuck roast for over the top chile or pot roast. super marbled, intense beef flavor, never disappoints. MJC
I fixed a traditional chuck roast with potatoes onions and carrots. I finally found a roast that tasted like my childhood memories of chuck roast. It was tender, tasty, and could be cut with a fork. I am looking forward to many more meals from it.
I've not bought beef in a store for over 40 years. My mom and dad had a ranch and raised some superior beef. When dad passed away my mom sold the ranch and I started buying 1/2 beefs from cattle ranchers. I've had some really good beef over the years. Recently I've been disappointed in the beef I've bought and started looking online for a new place to try. I found 44 Farms and am very happy! I've ordered it all, hamburger, hotdogs, the prime chuck roast and all the steaks and those bone-in short ribs...oh those ribs! Hands down this beef takes me right back to the awesome beef that my mom and dad used to raise. 44 Farms raises exceptional beef!
Put ythis roast in the crockpot and it came out so moist and delicious. Made beef stew with it and what can I say,it didn't last long, flavor was so good. I still have a second one so everyone is looking forward to that. I just wish they would stop asking when I'm going to fix it.
